Pat and Colin started their training school in 1996. Pat is qualified with The British Institue of Professional Dog Trainers, having obtained the Graduate Grade with Honours and then the Advanced Grade, which is the highest grade that they award.

They have owned and trained many different breeds of dog since they were married in 1980, and have gained a lot of experience training them along with other people's dogs over the years.

Pat and Colin are respected judges and stewards at Kennel Club registered obedience shows.

Pat and Colin Dogs Profile

Their first dog Petra, (MADAM MISCHIEF MAKER) a cross collie-lab, was quite a handful and needed lots of training. Pat became interested in competition work with Petra and started entering Kennel Club obedience shows, winning many classes up to class B.

Everyone seemed to work Collies so we acquired Katie (WHAT KATIE DID) a Working Sheepdog, who was fairly successful at the obedience shows but was very shy and nervous.

Then came Tessa (KINDRED SPIRIT) another Crossbreed, with a bit of beardie in her. She really took to training and they reached class C. Tessa and Pat also represented "The Northern Region" at the inter-regional competition at Crufts on three occasions.

Next came Chad (BLUETRIEVER SPIRIT CDEX UDEX WD) a Goldie-Collie cross who also reached class C in Obedience and representing Wales on one occasion at Crufts. Pat and Chad tried their hand at Working Trials which they absolutely loved, with Chad qualifiying up to WD open and winning first prizes along the way.

Their next dog was Baxter (CRAWBUTTS BAXTER CDEX UDEX WDEX) a Golden Retriever. He was a star in the dog world and was noticed wherever he went. He was also very clever achieving C in obedience and TD championship level in Working trials with many wins. Pat and Baxter represented Wales at Crufts on no less than 8 occasions, the last being the World Cup Obedience Competition at which they were runners up!

Next came Dewi a Scottish Terrier (SOLOMAN SID) who is still with us. Not an easy dog to train but what a fun dog to own. He has won 4th place in a Novice class which is a record for this breed. He also likes to do working trials but just for fun due to his short legs. Pat and Colin use Dewi to demonstrate how things should be done at their training classes.

Dingo (CROCODILE DUNDINGO CDEX UDEX WDEX TD) an Australian Kelpie is now Pats main Working Trials dog and is currently working TD Championship level. He is another very unusual dog to trian obedience (they are usually used to round sheep up) but Dingo has had a very successful career to date, which he loves.

Lucy a Collie cross joined us in 2006 after Pats mum passed away.

Finally we have the new kid GUY a Goldie-Lurcher cross who is adorable in every way and is busy learning obedience and working trials.
